Robert Day is 25-year resident of College Park and Founding member of CPA Board. He has served 5 terms as a College Park city Councilmember, Member of Maryland CyberSecurty Council, and Former Prince Georges Vice Chair and Chair of Metropolitan Washington Council of Air Quality Committee (MWAQC).

Mr. Carlo Colella

CPA Budget and Finance Chair
Carlo Colella has served as the university’s Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer since 2013. Prior to this role, Colella served as Associate Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer from 2011-2013, culminating years of progressively responsible roles in the university’s facilities management and planning and construction organizations since joining the university in 1988. Colella earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland and the University of California, Berkeley, respectively.
Dr. Carolyn Bernache
CPA Academic Affairs Chair
Dr. Bernache has more than 40 years of teaching and mentoring experience. Her she believes that all students can reach their educational potential through a challenging curriculum that is flexible and provides appropriate support. Dr. Bernache is a member if the College Park Academy Charter School’s (CPA) board of directors and is the chair of the CPA academic affairs committee. She is also the chairperson for the City of College Park’s Education Advisory Committee. She was also on the founding committee for the Monarch Preschool College Park.
Senator Jim Rosapepe
Founding Chair, CPA Organization and Leadership Chair
Elected to represent College Park in the Maryland senate in 2006, Jim is a longtime resident of the City who served as Vice Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, on the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and as US Ambassador to Romania. He was the founding chair of CPA.
Dr. Hank Boyd, Esq.
Marketing and Communications Chair
Dr. Boyd is a Clinical Professor of Marketing at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland, Wisconsin, and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Wisconsin. During his academic career, Hank has taught over 17,500 students. A brief listing of former clients includes the NFL, ExxonMobil, SAIC, Verizon, Stanley Black & Decker, and Ocean Tomo.
Ms. Erica Estrada-Liou
Board Member
Ms. Erica Estrada-Liou leads UMD’s Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She designs and teaches learning experiences focused on building the creative capacity of students, faculty and staff at UMD and with colleagues at the Stanford d.school.
Dr. Kimberly Griffin
Board Member
Dr. Kimberly Griffin is Dean of the College of Education at the University of Maryland and a Professor in the Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education department. She is an educator, researcher, and leader who aims to promote access, diversity, and justice education, and much of her scholarship has focused on equity in postsecondary education. In addition to her appointment at the University of Maryland, she is editor of the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education.
Dr. Stephen B. Thomas

One of the nation's leading scholars in the effort to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities, Dr. Stephen B. Thomas has applied his expertise to address a variety of conditions from which minorities generally face far poorer outcomes, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Gayatri Varma
Board Member
Dr. Varma is with the Partnering & Strategy group at MedImmune the biologics early stage R&D division of AstraZeneca. In her role she develops business development strategy as well as engages academia and companies for forging collaborations and partnerships in therapeutic areas of interest to MedImmune.
Dr. Donna Wiseman
Board Member
Dr. Donna Wiseman served as the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Maryland from 2008-2017. Prior to that, she held the position of Associate Dean for Academic Programs responsible for student services and advising, international activities, outreach, teacher education and accreditation.
